Grown by smallholder farmers on the fertile slopes of Mt. Elgon in Uganda, these beans showcase the country’s coffee renaissance. At 5,200 - 5,900 feet above sea level, the beans develop a vibrant profile with notes of chocolate, black tea, honey, citrus, and subtle herbal tones.
Coffee cherries are carefully hand-picked and transported—often by donkey down the mountain’s rugged terrain—to local mills. There, they undergo meticulous processing: pulping, a 12-hour fermentation, washing, and greenhouse drying before being finished at the dry mill.
Once known primarily for inconsistent drugar coffees, Uganda is now producing exceptional specialty lots thanks to modern receiving stations and advanced milling. Farmers are not only achieving higher quality, but also receiving better prices, helping drive a new era of growth for Ugandan coffee.
